The Mamaroneck Police Department received a report at approximately 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, regarding a potential domestic dispute in the area of Center Avenue and Mamaroneck Avenue.
Police said that the investigation into an incident determined that a 37-year-old woman from Mamaroneck was allegedly physically assaulted by Jersey City resident Bharath K. Anna, 31, who grabbed “in her intimate area” and attempted to pull her pants down before fleeing the scene.
According to police, officers conducted a canvas of the area, which led them to Anna, who was arrested and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, a felony. Anna’s victim refused further medical attention for minor injuries sustained during the alleged incident.
Anna was arraigned in the Village of Mamaroneck Court on Wednesday and was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $13,000 cash bail. Anna is due back in court later this year to answer the charge.
